Being a Houston-based photographer isn’t just about taking pictures; it’s about capturing memories and telling stories that families will cherish forever. For Lissette, specializing in newborn photography means creating a calm, intimate experience for families while delivering beautiful, timeless portraits. Here’s a glimpse into a typical day in her life, from in-home newborn sessions to personalized client consultations and image reveals.
My day starts early as I load up my car with all the gear needed for an in-home newborn session. This includes lighting equipment, cozy blankets, delicate props, and custom backdrops.
Newborn sessions typically take place at the client’s home to ensure a comfortable and familiar environment for the baby and parents. These sessions last about three hours, allowing plenty of time for soothing, feeding, and creating the perfect images.
Upon arrival, I scout the house for the best natural light and set up small, cozy “studio corners.” I also explore spots like the nursery, living room, or even the master bedroom for family-centered lifestyle shots.
I guide parents as we position their newborn in safe, adorable poses. Using gentle props like soft wraps, tiny headbands, or neutral-toned outfits, I ensure every detail looks perfect. My goal is to create a mix of posed portraits and natural, candid family moments.
These sessions aren’t just about the baby; they’re about the family. I encourage parents to cuddle, hold hands, and interact with their little one as I capture these heartfelt moments
By late morning, I’m wrapping up the session, packing my equipment, and leaving the family excited to see the final results.
After grabbing a quick lunch and organizing files from the morning session, I prepare for client consultations from the comfort of my home. These appointments, held via Zoom, are some of my favorite moments as they allow me to connect with families and collaborate on designing their perfect photography experience.
We discuss their vision for the photos, including themes, colors, and must-have shots.
I guide them through outfit suggestions, prop ideas, and how their portraits can be styled to fit their home if they’re planning wall art.
For returning clients, consultations also include planning for future sibling or family sessions to complement their newborn portraits.
During these consultations, I use a specialized program where clients can view their portraits, compare and contrast options, and select their favorites. I provide my professional input to help them choose the most meaningful images and decide on the best ways to display them.
The highlight of my day is often the evening “image reveal” sessions. These are intimate appointments where I showcase the final photos from a recent shoot. Families get to relive the memories we captured, often with a mix of laughter, tears, and excitement.
Using a slideshow or a gallery wall projection, I unveil their portraits. This is where families see how their newborn’s delicate features and the love in their family dynamic were beautifully preserved
I work with clients to design custom wall art for their home. From selecting frames and canvas sizes to choosing layouts that complement their décor, the goal is to create pieces they’ll cherish for years.
Once we’ve finalized their preferences, I ensure that prints, albums, and wall art are ordered, preparing to turn their memories into tangible treasures.
By the end of the day, I feel fulfilled knowing I’ve helped families preserve a once-in-a-lifetime moment in a way they can proudly display.

Every day as a Houston photographer is unique, but the heart of my work remains the same: connecting with families and capturing their most precious moments. Whether it’s the soft yawn of a newborn or the tear-filled joy of parents seeing their wall art for the first time, these experiences fuel my passion and remind me why I do what I do.
If you’re in Houston and looking for a personalized photography experience, I’d love to help you preserve your memories in a way that reflects your family’s unique story.
